Flash Fiction Magazine
I’m thrilled to share my newest flash fiction piece, “How to Bury a Fish,” published 12/8/25 in Flash Fiction Magazine.

This story began with a simple moment at home and unfolded into something tender and unexpectedly ceremonial. When a beloved pet fish dies, a family gathers in the backyard to honor it the best way they know how. There’s music chosen with great seriousness, snacks that feel like offerings, and the soft gravity that only a six year old can bring to a ritual they believe should matter. Through Max’s eyes, this small goodbye becomes a lesson in how we grieve, how we remember, and how love shows up in the tiniest corners of a day.

Writing this piece reminded me how much emotional truth can fit inside a short form. I hope Max and his determined heart stay with you long after the story ends.
