The Book of Jobs: Poems About Work
I’m delighted to share that my poem “Coffee, Lipstick, Turbulence” has been published by ONE ART as part of The Book of Jobs: Poems About Work, which soft launched on September 1, 2025, Labor Day, a fitting debut for an anthology honoring all kinds of labor. A fully accessible edition is forthcoming from the Pennsylvania State University Libraries Open Publishing in 2026.

This poem is my tribute to my mother’s experiences as a flight attendant in the 1970s, an era when air travel carried a kind of Hollywood glamour but also its own hidden turbulence. Through memories of hurried coffee carts and perfectly applied lipstick framed by cabin commotion, the poem offers a window into her world, where service, motion, and a steady composure soared together.

I hope it carries you into that world with warmth and maybe a sense of nostalgia for how travel, work, and elegance once collided.
