Women Who Submit

I am honored to share that my flash fiction piece The Hour the Rain Changed the Room appears today as part of This Makes Up the Sky from Women Who Submit. This ongoing series invites writers to explore the elemental forces that shape our inner and outer landscapes. The theme for this installment is rain, and my contribution draws from the moments inside an emergency department when weather becomes more than weather. It becomes a presence that changes how people speak, breathe, and care for one another.

This story moves through the charged stillness of a storm and the quiet transformations that take place under pressure. It is about bodies and thresholds, memory and sensation, and the unexpected ways shared rain can create its own kind of community, even within a space shaped by urgency.

I am grateful to Women Who Submit for including this piece in their beautiful and thoughtful series.
